What is Integrity? Random House Dictionary defines it as: “Adherence to moral and ethical principles; Soundness of moral character; honesty, the state of being whole, undiminished; unimpaired or in an acceptably perfect condition”
Integrity in the context of government, is one of the qualities most to be appreciated in public officials. Integrity is generally used as a benchmark against which to measure public conduct. The least that integrity requires of a governing entity
Integrity requires that one not take some action or fail to take some action because of a perceived benefit to oneself, without deceit or dissembling-is at the core of integrity.
For a despot, Integrity in government is not a serious matter. He may be benign or wicked, but because what he does is not dependent on his subjects’ wishes, so far as matters of governance are concerned, integrity has for him only instrumental value. It is however quite otherwise for a democratic government. For it, integrity enables, and a lack of integrity undermines, its democratic nature.
A democratic government has an obligation arising from its democratic nature to practice honesty and faithfulness toward its citizens, those to whom it is responsible.
Integrity requires that government not conceal or beat around the bush simply in order to avoid the citizens’ disapproval and the wrath of the people regarding their activities in darkness, or to avoid embarrassment , of what they did or do or doing.
Bona fide-Good faith which is fair and open dealing in human interactions is required and that requires sincere, honest intentions or belief, regardless of suspicious believes from each other. Good faith encompasses a sincere belief or motive without any malice or the desire to defraud others
Allah said “Who so intervenes in a GOOD cause will have the reward thereof, and who so intervenes in an EVIL cause will bear the consequence thereof. God sees all things.4:85 “
Somaliland leaders Must be clear what Allah and the people of Somaliland wants them to do and what they don’t want them to do, so they are here told just that.
Islam orders the Muslims to be honest to themselves and to others. This order repeatedly comes in the Noble Qur’an and the sayings of Prophet Muhammad (SAWS). Islam orders the Muslim to tell the truth and not to cheat or deceive his people or other people. A Muslim is ordered by Allah to be honest in his words and deeds, privately and publicly alike. Honesty in words implies telling the truth and doing the right things in all cases and under all conditions. No one can hide from Allah, from the wrath of his people and from history.
Bona-fide-Good faith which is fair and open dealing in human interactions requires sincere, honest intentions or belief, regardless of suspicious believes from each other. Good faith encompasses a sincere belief or motive without any malice or the desire to defraud others, Honesty is the opposite of bluffing, the opposite of hypocrisy, the opposite of favoritism, and the opposite of deceit and deception. This virtue was absent in Siilanyo’s administration throughout, that is K-1, however the inheritors of Siilanyo, that is K-2, better watch out for their sake and for the sake of Somaliland
