Interpol to open permanent office at AU

Adis,ababa(Wajaalenews)The International Police Organization (Interpol) is reportedly planning to open a permanent office at the African Union (AU) in Addis Ababa.

National Interpol Head Commander Girmay Kahsay said that a representative of the Interpol recently held discussions with the concerned parties on how a permanent office could be opened at the African Union.

The decision to open a permanent office in Addis Ababa has taken into consideration Ethiopia’s close collaboration with the organization and its active role in the continent, noted Commander Girmay.

Activities have currently been underway to establish AFRIPOL, a continental organization affiliated to the Interpol, he disclosed.

The International Police Organization is strongly controlling criminal activities globally by expanding its structure, Commander Girmay added.

Interpol has consolidated its efforts by establishing strong bondage among the police and providing information and transmitting database messages.

The huge organization after the United Nations has 703 permanent employees in 98 countries, it was learned.
