Somalia marks country’s deadliest ever attack killed 500
October 14, 2018 - Written by Reporter:Muqdisho (WJN)- Somalia is marking the first anniversary of Oct. 14, 2017 bombing, country’s deadliest ever attack which left 500 people dead in Mogadishu capital. Somali PM and other hundreds of people have gathered at a new memorial with a minute of silence in Mogadishu. Memories of the bombing are still raw in a country that has faced decades of deadly warlord-led chaos and attacks by the al-Qaida-linked al-Shabab extremist group. The US says it stands with the people and government of the Federal Republic of Somalia to commemorate the victims of the horrific October 14, 2017 terrorist attack in Mogadishu. “We continue to extend our deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims and injured in the country’s deadliest attack”, said in a memo obtained by Caasimada Online. “We denounce such senseless acts and will continue to provide our assistance to overcome terrorism and promote stability and prosperity for the people of Somalia”. United States remains committed to collaboration with the people and government of Somalia who want peace, a bright future for the country’s youth, and opportunities to thrive and promote development.
