On last Thursday, 18^th May 2017, people of Somaliland celebrated widely around the world for the national commemoration day of 18^th May 1991 which marks the 26^th anniversary of the historical day that Somaliland clan delegates gathered in Burao declared the reclamation of the independence from Somalia disqualifying the union of 1^st July 1960!

The celebration took place differently in home and at the abroad. In home, the president; HE A. M. M. (Silanyo) issued a presidential degree of fund raising gathering for drought affected people whom need recovery schemes as well as re-stocking progremme.

On this occasion, HE the president of the Republic of Somaliland addresses to the nation and sent crucial message to the international community as part of the festival speech. “Somaliland is a country that solely addresses and solved for all his problems from devastation through security res-storing, stability and state establishment, building and developing of its public institutions, linking and sharing benefits with neighboring countries”. “This is practical tangible results among the regional sub-continent communities” said by HE President A. M. M. (Silanyo). The president continue his speech saying that “Somaliland did not deposited evil records rather contributed to the stability in the region and controlled its involvement at great conflicts of the continental region of the Horn of Africa particularly in the Somali region”.

Additionally, the president highlighted how it is important that Somaliland people was supposed to be respected rather harming them for their better performances which they demonstrated within last quarter of century that they have been cultivating state building”.  

Arguing how international community neglected for recognizing positive contributions of Somaliland people, the president said “it is not fair that we should be ignored, tighten our hands back with atrocities, be undermined while supporting those we left each other a quarter of century ago while reclaimed our union from them”.

The president emphasized how international community undermined Somaliland and said “It is not fair that international community undermines Somaliland for rewarding negatively, at the same time, it is not fair to build our twin while holding international level conferences of fund raising for days”.

President A. M. M. (Silanyo) continued his speech saying “We won’t accept from the international to violate our dignity and our rights that the God gave us”.

Specifically highlighting how Somaliland had been un-justices, the president said “It is not acceptable from the international community for continuing the un-justices against us which they normalizes because of their backing differently or they biases for Somalia”.

Declaring how Somaliland is determined defending of its rights, the president said “I’m warning that international community should force my people and their government becoming a critical stage that would limit controlling of their grievances very differently than normal behavior as of their custom”.

At his conclusion, the president called for the EU, USA, UK, UA, Arab League, and those governments of IGAD group they should accept Somaliland’s case and they should respect the our rights for self-determination of Somaliland people”.

Explaining about future unrests from such un-justices, the president said “whom he does not forecast enough could not know much about current time”. “If weapons ban is lifted from part of ex. Somalia, it is clearly showing that it will lead immediately crisis not only in the Somali region but also it will extend negatively to the regional sub-continent of the Horn of Africa. Now, Somaliland shares economic integration and security stability that they contribute regularly greatly”.

Avoiding wide crises in future, the president clearly stated of his deeply feeling and warned “I’m warning that enmity among Somali society should not be created rather it will impact negatively within them not in near future but in the long-time period as well”. “It will be very difficult for Somalis to recover such contamination otherwise”.

Well done for the President A. M. M. (Silanyo) how good he argued to the international community over our long time standing of our statehood case! May we clap to the president and shall join for advocating to our case rather remaining very passive nowadays! The president made historical addresses that will remain in our living memory while we should activate of our scholar capacity as same as of the struggle period of 80s.

Thanks to HE President A. M. M. (Silanyo) for his commitment to the national interest not only at this occasion but his sacrifices of past years as well.
