Subject: Free Jeedale youth and others, they are Prisoners of conscience

Date: December 2, 2014

Definition of Prisoners of conscience:

Prisoner of conscience (POC) can refer to any person who is physically restrained by imprisonment or otherwise from expressing in any form of words or symbols any opinion which he/she honestly holds and which does not advocate or condone personal violence is a Prisoner of conscience. (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Jeedale youth and many others in Siilanyo’s prisons in Somaliland including journalists are Prisoners of conscience and ought to be free

Like other human rights organizations SOMALILAND WATCH GROUP advocates the well being and the release of the victims of despotic regimes. We call governments to release those prisoners we consider to be prisoners of conscience. SWG like other human rights watch groups is calling Mr. Siilanyo to release all the people in his prisons who fit in the POC.

This forum was following the unwise activities intended to imprison citizens expressing their thoughts and believes. We are also following the suppression and in certain cases elimination of the free press with out respecting their fundamental rights enshrined in the constitution of Somaliland. .

We know that the actions of your administration Mr. President have divided the people and the country and these divisions are growing day after day in an ongoing fashion. Somaliland is in the danger zone now whether you realize this or not.

Mr. President you formed an oligarchy government instead of a government for the people. The oligarchies increasingly gotten hold of unchallenged, unabated powers, they seized the moment and accelerated the dismantling of the democratic gains achieved since the establishment of this Republic. The systematic ‘de-democratization’ of Somaliland is brutal. The damage and suffering inflicted on the population has begun to be visible. Your administration has created conditions for clan oriented cabalism profiting from ‘crisis of clan divisions and competitions, a recipe for civil war God forbid. .

We are calling you Mr. President that the above activities the oligarchies in your administration are executing are undemocratic, counter productive, destructive, and destabilizing acts and criminal at times. We hope Mr. President that you take these incidents as serious as they are. Reverse such vindictive and destructive policies and practices of yours.

Unconscionable and despotic governments conversely, tend to deny that the specific prisoners identified by Amnesty International and other human rights organizations are, in fact, being held on the grounds human rights organizations claim; they allege that these prisoners pose genuine threats to the security of their countries. Here Jeedale youth, Somaliland journalists and other conscionable citizens are not and were ever a threat to the security of their country-Somaliland. As a matter of fact Siilanyo’s oligarchy government is a threat to the sustainability, stability of Somaliland and the peace of Somaliland and the region in general.

Conclusion:

Bring the people together instead of dividing them and respect their fundamental rights of free speech. Respect the constitution the oligarchies have already dumped!

Not to act and fail not to change this will be not only moral failings and unpatriotic in the minimum but it may be the end of the Republic of Somaliland as we know it!

Somaliland watch Group is calling Mr. Siilanyo to free Jeedale youth and all other victims who are in his jails. They are Prisoners of conscience

Free all the prisoners of conscience in your jails Mr. President.

SWG is calling the president of Somaliland not to arbitrarily imprison citizens who differ with the oligarchies of his administration. Safe guard the peace
